Survey Results
The results of the Public Opinion Survey distributed between September 23 and October 10, 2008 are now available (view report and appendices). The survey was developed to stimulate greater participation in the public process and obtain additional public input, which has been a continued goal of the BRDC.
An Informational Booklet accompanied the survey and served as an educational tool regarding each of the dam alternatives proposed to date and the respective impacts and benefits for each of the alternative scenarios.
Copies of the Informational Booklet and survey were
- Inserted into the Traverse City Record Eagle and distributed to 15,000 subscribers, most in Grand Traverse County.
- Mailed with stamped, self-addressed return envelopes to 391 owners of riverfront property and 2,609 people randomly selected from the Voter Registration List of Grand Traverse County.
- Distributed to about 180 people at three public informational meetings.
- Provided to everyone through the project website.
In total, 749 completed surveys were received, including 323 from the website, 233 from the Record Eagle inserts, 124 from mailings, and 69 from individuals that attended the public meetings. Read the results for yourself!
