BLOG POLICY APPROVED BY THE BRDC, SEPTEMBER 25, 2007

Use of the Boardman River Dams Committee (BRDC) blog is open to all. We do require that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below. If you post a blog comment, you are indicating that you have read and agree to the terms. By agreeing to these rules, you additionally warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise in violation of any laws.

All posts express the views of the author; the website Administrator and Moderators will not be held responsible for the content of any post. The Administrator and Moderators of the BRDC website will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this blog, though it may not be possible to review every post. Report any concerns regarding inappropriate, insulting, or abusive comments to Jennifer Jay at

. While we will attempt to address concerns, our goal is for a self-functioning website with the least amount of moderation necessary.

While most bloggers are familiar with the Boardman River Dams Committee, many who visit this blog may never have been at a BRDC meeting and may even live in another state. What may seem repetitive to those who have attended the meetings and followed the process may not be so obvious to a new person visiting our website. Please be courteous to newcomers and attempt to answer their questions or direct them to an information section on the website that may answer their questions.

Blog Policy:

  1. The website Administrator and Moderators reserve the right to refuse, remove, or close any topic or post.

  2. Rudeness to others will not be tolerated. Difference of opinion is fine and is to be expected, but rude posts will not be tolerated and may be refused / deleted with a warning issued to the user.

  3. Keep outside personal conflicts and grudges off the site.

  4. Any post that is intentionally made to degrade or disrupt the flow of the topic and/or posts that (in the opinion of the moderators) are objectionable or are malicious in content will result in a warning. It is the judgment call of the Administrator and Moderators as to what constitutes objectionable, so if you are unsure whether or not your post is appropriate, do not post it.

  5. Use only one identity to blog. Bloggers using multiple identities will be issued a warning. The website captures each user’s unique IP address; multiple identities are easily identified.

  6. Any blog user may be permanently restricted from future posts upon receiving three warnings for inappropriate use or comments as decided by the collective Administrator and Moderators

  7. If material or documents exist online to support your opinion, if possible, please provide a link to it when it’s referenced—even if it is our own website.

  8. Please be aware that common blog etiquette assumes that if you write a blog in CAPITAL letters, it implies that you are yelling. Please do not replace an intelligent, open discussion with a behavior that may trigger a hostile message and/or response.

  9. All posts made within the forums become the property of the BRDC after they are made and may be stored indefinitely at our discretion.

  10. Free advertising is not permitted on these forums.

I’m excited to see a blog sight activated for the boardman. Hopefully , this will inspire people who care for our river to network and get those ideas cookin’. I presented an idea to look into creating whitewater rapids along the dam/reservoir sights in order to open new recreational opportunities up to TC. This plan is flexible and offers many solutions to several interested parties around this dam problem. I will be chiming in on the ‘Alternative River ideas’ portion of the blog so please review my presentation from January. Let me have your 2 cents worth. I would love to hear all sides of your thoughts on the idea so they can be incorporated into making the Boardman a integral part of Traverse as a healthy, active community and an environmentally responsible community.
Thanks, Eric Clone

I agree with Ben and would like to thank Jennifer for all her hard work on not only the website, but the entire process, which is fueled by her energy!  I just hope it is renewable…
Thanks Jennifer!

The new site looks great.  I think the blog feature will be a great way for people to share ideas on BRDC topics.
