Bob Hess
Wildlife Biologist, lives on the AuSable River near Roscommon. Native of prairies of Minnesota, graduate of University of Minnesota. Has 40 yesrs experience working as a wildlife biologist, 31 years for the Minnesota and Michigan DNR, last nine years as a private consultant in northern Michigan. Career emphasis has been land management for wildlife with a focus on forest and wetlands wildlife. Most enjoyable assignment is working as a statewide Nongame and Endangered Species Program supervisor for the Michigan DNR, coordinating Nongame Wildlife Fund includiong reintroduction of peregrine falcons and trumpeter swans
Bill Scharf Wildlife Biologist, has 35+ years of teaching, research, and administrative experience in biological sciences at Northwestern Michigan College, the University of Nebraska, and Lake Superior State University. He has published over 70 scientific papers, book chapters, and books on birds, mammals, insects, and ecology resulting from field work in several states and overseas. An honorary Elective Member of the American Ornithologistsa Union, Scharf holds a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota, and has resided in Traverse City on and off for over 40 years.
